Boggo Road to Banoon rail replacement
Priority driver operating brief for the next shutdown phase from first service Monday 6 July 2026 until last service Sunday 19 July 2026.
- This stage supersedes the 27 June to 5 July Varsity Lakes Library brief where information overlaps.
- Kinetic is engaged by Translink to operate rail replacement buses in lieu of trains between Boggo Road and Banoon stations.
- Eight Mile Plains is not used as part of this stage, and trains are running south of Banoon.
- Follow your shift sheet, current left and rights, on-site coordinator instructions and OCC directions. Do not deviate unless authorised by Operations.
Routes
Weekday route patterns
Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July and Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2026 route patterns from the updated brief.
- R582: Boggo Road express to Griffith University, express to Banoon. Frequency: every 6 to 10 minutes.
- R583: Eagle Junction express to Banoon. Frequency: every 10 to 15 minutes.
- R586: Fruitgrove limited stops loop service via Griffith University and Brisbane City. Frequency: every 6 to 10 minutes.
- R591: Boggo Road all stations to Banoon, omitting Rocklea. Frequency: every 10 to 15 minutes.
- BCC Route 19 StationLink covers all stations between Boggo Road and Salisbury, including Rocklea. Kinetic is not responsible for Route 19.

Operations
OCC and radio contact
Operational contact points and radio expectations for the 6 to 19 July closure.
- Operations will be based at Kinetic Gold Coast Operations Control Centre for the project.
- Use the Kinetic Rail Radio Channel. For Kinetic buses this is Channel 10, and it may appear as Channel 12 when close to Brisbane.
- Contact Operations for late running over 7 minutes, incidents, accidents, road closures or anything unusual affecting your service.
- Use your shift number as your identity on radio calls, for example Rail Bus 77067 to Operations.
- If radio is unavailable, contact the temporary rail OCC on 0457 997 128. If unavailable, Molendinar Bus Depot is staffed 24/7 on 0408 981 645.
- Internal phone numbers must not be given to the public. Direct public enquiries to Translink on 13 12 30.
- If a customer asks about lost property, contact Kinetic Rail OCC for assistance but do not provide internal mobile numbers to the customer.
Route Changes
Priority route and stop changes
Stop and hub changes from the Boggo Road to Banoon brief that affect this closure stage.
- Moorooka Station has a stop change for R591 in both directions due to station-upgrade construction.
- R591 inbound uses Moorooka Station Stop 38/39. R591 outbound uses Gainsborough Street Stop 38.
- R591 omits Rocklea. Route 19 StationLink remains the BCC-operated connection for Rocklea and other stations between Boggo Road and Salisbury.
- Boggo Road Busway Station platform 4 is used for R582 departures express to Banoon.
- Boggo Road Busway Station platform 3 is used for R591 departures all stations to Banoon.
- Banoon Station is the southern rail replacement terminus for this phase; trains continue south of Banoon.
- Eight Mile Plains, Beenleigh, Hope Island, Helensvale and Varsity Lakes are not active rail replacement hubs for this phase.
Road Closures
Road closures and unplanned diversions

- Queensland Rail and Translink advised that no rail replacement services are expected to be significantly impacted by road closures.
- If unplanned road closures affect rail replacement services, Kinetic Operations will advise and provide alternative routing for drivers.
- Drivers should continue to follow left and rights unless Operations authorises a deviation.

Boggo Road
Boggo Road platforms and layovers
Boggo Road operating notes now prioritise the Banoon-stage platform allocations and layover access diagrams.
- Platform 4 is for R582 departures express to Banoon.
- Platform 3 is for R591 departures all stations to Banoon.
- Do not arrive more than two minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
- Ipswich Road layover access is available from Boggo Road via Eastern Busway, PA Hospital Lower Level and Ipswich Road.
- Temporary portaloos are installed next to the Ipswich Road layover container.
- O'Keefe Street short-term layover and Home Street / Noble Street Fairfield layovers remain listed for Boggo Road recovery.
Banoon
Banoon Station bus zones and layover
Banoon is the southern bus terminus for the 6 to 19 July rail replacement stage.
- Main bus zone: R582 and R591 departures to Boggo Road.
- Bus shelter zone: R583 express departures to Eagle Junction.
- Rear of bus zone: all routes drop off only.
- Everest Street is closed for buses; use local traffic access shown in the guide.
- Buses on breaks at Banoon are to lay over in Eddington Street or Gager Street.
- Do not idle buses for longer than two minutes at Banoon.
Busway
Busway operating rules

- Only operate on the busway if familiar and trained on busway protocols. Contact Operations before the shutdown if a refresher is required.
- No reversing at any time.
- No overtaking at any time.
- No speeding at any time.
- Pull up at the lead stop on platforms and do not hold on platforms for extended periods.
- The busway network is monitored 24 hours a day. Comply with busway rules at all times.

Driver Duties
Shift sheet, set down, ticketing and signage
Trip operation requirements carried forward in the updated brief.
- Follow your shift sheet at all times unless Operations directs otherwise.
- Complete odometer readings and passenger counts for each trip and return the completed shift sheet to your home depot when signing off.
- For set down only portions after a terminus, only drop remaining passengers at stations indicated on the sheet. Once the last passenger has alighted, return to depot or your next trip as instructed.
- Drivers are not required to use the Translink CUBIC ticket machine. Passengers should use train station go card readers or ticket machines; drivers are not to enforce fare payment.
- Display the correct destination signage for the trip. Kinetic destination codes are on shift sheets; subcontractor drivers should confirm codes with their depot.
Driver Welfare
Comfort breaks, luggage and accessibility
Driver welfare and customer-handling rules from the Banoon brief.
- Toilet facilities are available for driver use at all bus terminuses during the closure.
- Portable toilets are listed at O'Keefe Street, Home Street, Noble Street council facilities during daylight hours, Banoon Station car park, and Banoon Eddington and Gager Streets.
- Contact Operations if facilities cannot be accessed or an extended comfort stop may delay service.
- Luggage is permitted if it can be safely stowed. Contact a coordinator or Operations if assistance is needed.
- Wheelchair lifter equipped coaches must have wheelchair bay seats removed and the driver must be trained and competent. If a wheelchair cannot be loaded, notify Operations for alternate transport.
- Take extra care with side wheelchair lifters near overhead structures such as bus stop shelters or awnings.
- Bicycles and e-scooters are not permitted on rail replacement buses, including in luggage bins. Children with e-scooters may be allowed if there is no alternative travel option; contact a coordinator or OCC if unsure.
Lost Property
Lost property handling
Process for found items and customer enquiries during this stage.
- Hand any lost property to a coordinator at the end of each trip.
- Coordinators will hand items to Queensland Rail for safe keeping.
- For customer lost-property enquiries, contact Kinetic Rail OCC for assistance without giving out internal phone numbers.
